Investment Team

Based in Seoul, Korea, SJL’s investment team consists of fit-for-purpose professionals experienced in executing and managing cross-border investments.

Steve Suk Jung Lim

Chairman and Managing Partner

Mr. Lim serves as Chairman and Managing Partner at the firm. As chair of the Investment Committee and the Operating Committee, he leads the shaping of the firm’s strategy and oversees the origination of new investment opportunities, portfolio management, and investor relations.

Prior to founding SJL, Mr. Lim led CVC Capital Partners in Korea as chairman and partner, also serving as a member of its Investment Committee, Asia Executive Committee and Asia Board. Before CVC, Mr. Lim served as CEO of J.P. Morgan Korea and Head of Korea Investment Banking for over 20 years. Mr. Lim also worked at Salomon Brothers in New York, Tokyo and Seoul; Kidder Peabody & Co. in New York; and Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati.

Mr. Lim currently serves as a director on the boards of Momentive Technologies and Nexeon Ltd.

Mr. Lim holds an Executive MBA (APC) from New York University, an MBA from George Washington University, and a BA in Economics from Korea University.

Steve Suk Jung Lim — Steve Suk Jung Lim

Chairman and Managing Partner

Mr. Lim serves as Chairman and Managing Partner at the firm. As chair of the Investment Committee and the Operating Committee, he leads the shaping of the firm’s strategy and oversees the origination of new investment opportunities, portfolio management, and investor relations.

Prior to founding SJL, Mr. Lim led CVC Capital Partners in Korea as chairman and partner, also serving as a member of its Investment Committee, Asia Executive Committee and Asia Board. Before CVC, Mr. Lim served as CEO of J.P. Morgan Korea and Head of Korea Investment Banking for over 20 years. Mr. Lim also worked at Salomon Brothers in New York, Tokyo and Seoul; Kidder Peabody & Co. in New York; and Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati.

Mr. Lim currently serves as a director on the boards of Momentive Technologies and Nexeon Ltd.

Woosung Jung

Managing Director

Mr. Jung is primarily responsible for the origination and execution of investment opportunities, and managing portfolio companies. He is a member of the firm’s Operating Committee.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Jung was a director at Credit Suisse in Korea, and an executive director at J.P. Morgan in Hong Kong with a focus on the energy sector across power, oil & gas, metals & mining and infrastructure. He also previously worked at Oliver Wyman as a management consultant, leading various corporate restructuring and growth strategy projects.

Mr. Jung holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a BBA from Yonsei University.

Woosung Jung — Woosung Jung

Managing Director

Mr. Jung is primarily responsible for the origination and execution of investment opportunities, and managing portfolio companies. He is a member of the firm’s Operating Committee.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Jung was a director at Credit Suisse in Korea, and an executive director at J.P. Morgan in Hong Kong with a focus on the energy sector across power, oil & gas, metals & mining and infrastructure. Sungjae Lee

Mr. Lee is primarily responsible for the origination and execution of investment opportunities, and managing portfolio companies. He is a member of the firm’s Operating Committee.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Lee served as VP of Business Development at Fullerton Financial Holdings, a subsidiary of Temasek focused on strategic investments in financial institutions in Asia. Before Fullerton, Mr. Lee spent 11 years at J.P. Morgan specializing in M&A for industry and coverage teams in Singapore, Hong Kong and Seoul.

Mr. Lee holds an MBA (High Honors) from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a BA in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University.

Sungjae Lee — Sungjae Lee

Managing Director

Mr. Lee is primarily responsible for the origination and execution of investment opportunities, and managing portfolio companies. He is a member of the firm’s Operating Committee.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Lee served as VP of Business Development at Fullerton Financial Holdings, a subsidiary of Temasek focused on strategic investments in financial institutions in Asia. Before Fullerton, Mr. Lee spent 11 years at J.P. Morgan specializing in M&A for industry and coverage teams in Singapore, Hong Kong and Seoul.

Mr. Lee holds an MBA (High Honors) from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a BA in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University.

JP Park

Executive Director

Mr. Park is primarily engaged in the execution of investment opportunities and managing portfolio companies.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Park was a vice president at J.P. Morgan in Seoul, supporting deal origination and leading the execution of M&A and international capital markets transactions. He also previously worked at Anchor Equity Partners, where he evaluated investment opportunities in Korea and the Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Park holds a BSc in Management from the London School of Economics.

JP Park — JP Park

Executive Director

Mr. Park is primarily engaged in the execution of investment opportunities and managing portfolio companies.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Park was a vice president at J.P. Morgan in Seoul, supporting deal origination and leading the execution of M&A and international capital markets transactions. He also previously worked at Anchor Equity Partners, where he evaluated investment opportunities in Korea and the Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Park holds a BSc in Management from the London School of Economics.

Jiun Im

Vice President

Mr. Im joined SJL in 2023, and is engaged in evaluating investment opportunities, supporting deal execution and portfolio management.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Im was an equity research analyst at Goldman Sachs, owning primary coverage of the consumer and retail sectors in Korea. He also previously worked in the research departments of Nomura (covering consumer/biopharmaceuticals) and Daiwa (automobile, steelmaking and shipbuilding).

Mr. Im holds a BSc in Mathematics & Statistical Science from University College London.

Mr. Im joined SJL in 2023, and is engaged in evaluating investment opportunities, supporting deal execution and portfolio management.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Im was an equity research analyst at Goldman Sachs, owning primary coverage of the consumer and retail sectors in Korea. Kyumin Kang

Associate

Mr. Kang joined SJL in 2019, and is engaged in evaluating investment opportunities, supporting deal execution and portfolio management.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Kang worked in the Leveraged Finance Group at BNP Paribas in New York, executing financing transactions involving the structuring and syndication of leveraged loans and high-yield bonds.

Mr. Kang holds a BSc in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University.

Kyumin Kang — Kyumin Kang

Associate

Mr. Kang joined SJL in 2019, and is engaged in evaluating investment opportunities, supporting deal execution and portfolio management.

Prior to joining SJL, Mr. Kang worked in the Leveraged Finance Group at BNP Paribas in New York, executing financing transactions involving the structuring and syndication of leveraged loans and high-yield bonds.

Mr. Kang holds a BSc in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University.

Analyst

Mr. Park joined SJL in 2021, and is engaged in evaluating investment opportunities, supporting deal execution and portfolio management.

Operating Advisory Group

Based in Chicago and New York, SJL’s operating partners bring decades of operational and investment experience, having held a wide range of senior positions at global private equity funds and multinational corporations.

Thomas J. Kichler

Operating Partner

Mr. Kichler has more than 35 years of experience in private equity and investment banking. He is currently a senior advisor at CVC Capital Partners, after serving as partner and head of US Industrials and Energy.

Prior to CVC, Mr. Kichler was a managing director and partner at One Equity Partners, and a managing director at Citi and its predecessor Salomon Brothers. He also previously worked at Wasserstein Perella and Ernst & Young.

Mr. Kichler currently serves as chairman of the board of Anchor Glass Container Corporation, and as a director on the board of Momentive Performance Materials. He previous served on the boards of numerous private and public companies, including Progress Rail Services (Caterpillar), Columbian Chemicals (Birla Carbon), PeroxyChem (Evonik) and Western Hospitals (Apollo Hospitals).

Mr. Kichler holds a BSE in Banking, Finance, Securities Law and Corporate from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Allen Han

Operating Partner

Mr. Han has over 30 years of experience working as an operational or business leader in private equity and multinational corporations.

Mr. Han was previously a partner and head of the Asia Operations Team at CVC Capital Partners, where he supported all of CVC’s industrial investments in the region. Before CVC, Mr. Han ran Honeywell’s Electronic Sensing business globally and its Security business in Asia as vice president and general manager. He also previously worked at General Electric in the US and China, Booz Allen & Hamilton and Hewlett-Packard.

Mr. Han currently serves as a director on the boards of Momentive Performance Materials and Momentive Technologies.

Mr. Han holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and a BS from National Taiwan University.

Allen Han — Allen Han

Operating Partner

Mr. Han has over 30 years of experience working as an operational or business leader in private equity and multinational corporations.

Mr. Han was previously a partner and head of the Asia Operations Team at CVC Capital Partners, where he supported all of CVC’s industrial investments in the region. Finance and Operations Team

Based in Seoul, Korea, SJL’s finance and operations professionals manage fund accounting and financial reporting functions for the firm’s investors, as well as compliance and HR standards and practices.

Anna Kyuhee Kim

CFO & COO

Ms. Kim has a broad range of leadership responsibilities across fund controllership, investor relations, compliance and office administration. She is a member of the firm’s Operating Committee.

Prior to joining SJL, Ms. Kim was the CFO and CAO at J.P. Morgan Investment Advisors Korea. Prior to these roles, she was the CFO of J.P. Morgan Asset Management Korea, also serving as a business manager exploring new business areas. Before J.P. Morgan, she worked as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Seoul and Boston.

Ms. Kim holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Ewha Womans University.

CFO & COO

Ms. Kim has a broad range of leadership responsibilities across fund controllership, investor relations, compliance and office administration. She is a member of the firm’s Operating Committee.

Prior to joining SJL, Ms. Kim was the CFO and CAO at J.P. Morgan Investment Advisors Korea. Prior to these roles, she was the CFO of J.P. Morgan Asset Management Korea, also serving as a business manager exploring new business areas. Before J.P. Morgan, she worked as a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Seoul and Boston.

Ms. Lim is primarily responsible for investor relations, and managing fund administration affairs including accounting and financial reporting for the firm's funds.

Prior to joining SJL, Ms. Lim was a fund administrator at JC Partners, a private equity investment manager based in Korea.

Ms. Lim holds a MA in International Office Administration from Ewha Womans University.

Ms. Lim is primarily responsible for investor relations, and managing fund administration affairs including accounting and financial reporting for the firm's funds.

Prior to joining SJL, Ms. Lim was a fund administrator at JC Partners, a private equity investment manager based in Korea.

Ms. Lim holds a MA in International Office Administration from Ewha Womans University.

Jaehee Seo
